Top 5 Performing Stocks To Buy For 2018

Increased prices of its snacks and beverages helped PepsiCo beat consensus estimates on earnings per share and revenue in its recent second quarter earnings announcement. The company’s core earnings came in at $1.50 per share on revenues of $15.71 billion, outperforming analysts’ expectations by 10 cents and $100 million, respectively. While volumes were flat, net pricing trended upwards by around 1%. Profits in the quarter were also helped by the sale of its minority stake in Britvic, the gains from which the company intends to reinvest in its business through the rest of the year. By focusing on selling premium products, and by transforming its portfolio to reflect the increasing demand for healthier food and beverage options, the company can continue to deliver strong results in the future. For the full year, PepsiCo raised its earnings guidance to $5.13 per share, from $5.09 earlier, citing a lower foreign currency translation impact.

For many years, NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) has relied on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM) to manufacture the graphics chips it designs. Today, most of NVIDIA’s Pascal architecture-based graphics processors — from the GeForce GTX 1060, designed for mainstream PC gamers, all the way through its cutting edge Tesla P100 datacenter accelerators — are manufactured by TSMC.

What’s interesting, though, is that the company’s entry-level gaming processor — a chip known as GP107, and sold as the GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti — isn’t built by TSMC. Instead, it’s built by Samsung (NASDAQOTH:SSNLF) on that company’s 14-nanometer LPP technology.

However, whileNVIDIA is sourcing mass-market graphics chips from a rival, it appears that its relationship withTaiwan Semiconductoris deepening rather than degrading. Here are some reasons to think so.

stock dividend: NXP Semiconductors N.V.(NXPI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Sreekanth Anasa]

The acquisition of NXP Semiconductor (NSDQ:NXPI) has opened up multi-billion dollar connected devices market from smartphone to car to home, for Qualcomm. It seems prepared to cater to the massive connected devices market in terms of OS preference with Android and Windows 10 mobile collaborations. Though Amazon and its AWS have different take on cloud and IoT devices with its Greengrass solution which revolves around the cloud and aggregation of sensors.

  • [By Sreekanth Anasa]

EvenCanaccords T. Michael Walkleyis also of a similar view and reiterated a buy rating on QCOM stock recently. Mr.Walkley opines that the litigation against the smartphone chipmaker is motivated by Apple’s(NASDAQ:AAPL) intention to lower its license payments. He has a price target of $76 on QCOM stock and still considers Qualcomm an attractive long-term investment. According to him, the growing royalty fees collection from ChineseOEMs and the impending NXP Semiconductor (NASDAQ: NXPI) acquisition, which is on track as per him, are the long-term growth drivers for QCOM stock.

  • [By Sreekanth Anasa]

Qualcomm may be haunted by its legal woes but there are a lot of positive developments for the chipmaker as well. The demand for Qualcomm’s latest flagship offering Snapdragon 835 is exceeding supply. Though the difference is caused by supply and manufacturing limitations it bodes well for the San Diego chip giant as it suggests healthy demand for its high-end chips amid sluggish smartphone sales worldwide. The company is also expected to win more market share among Chines OEMs in 2H17 particularly withOppo and Vivo.Jun Zhang ofRosenblatt Securities states that “Qualcomms market share in China to grow from 50% in 2016 to 65% in 2017 with share gains in OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi and Meizu, with stable market share in Samsung. We also believe Chinese OEMs will adopt the Snapdragon 835 in late-Q2 or early Q3.” However, analysts are afraid that all these may not offset the losses caused by the legal face-off with Apple. The next major catalyst for QCOM would be the impending acquisition of NXP Semiconductor (NASDAQ:NXPI).Steve Mollenkopf, CEO of Qualcomm, reiterated that the acquisition is on track during the earnings call and spent considerable time discussinglarger growth opportunitiesthat will be unlocked by the conclusion of this acquisition.

Most companies that have gone public this year are biotech firms and the first quarter marked the slowest start to IPOs since the last recession. In the current quarter, the fact that companies outside of biotech are eyeing or marching through the IPO door may be a sign of a slow thaw?

Last month, Bats Global Inc. (BATS: BATS) raised $253 million in an initial offering that valued the company at $1.8 billion. Bats increased the deal’s size after demand for shares exceeded the 11.2 million originally offered by 20 times.1 After a mere dribble of initial public offerings in this year’s first quarter, the idea that one new issue priced its shares above its asking range then surged 20 percent in its first day of trading was welcome news for investors looking for a sign that the IPO market has started to thaw.

There is no denying that some silver stocks have a problem with the problem beingthe focus on silver. On Monday, some key silver stocks like First Majestic Silver Corp (NYSE: AG) along with solver benchmark the iShares Silver Trust ETF (NYSEARCA: SLV) saw sharper than normal selloffs on an otherwise short trading day. The problem for investors in First Majestic Silver Corp is that its probably the closest thing to a pure play silver stock out there as most other silver miners have long since made aneffort to diversify into gold and other preciousmetals in case silver prices fall off.
