Top 5 Safest Stocks To Own For 2018

Mondelez International stock is up this week on chatter a takeover offer from Kraft-Heinz Co. (NYSE: KHC) could be coming.

Shares of Mondelez International Inc. (Nasdaq: MDLZ) surged 6% after hours Wednesday as rumors spread that Pittsburgh-based Kraft-Heinz might be interested in purchasing Chicago-headquartered Mondelez. German business magazine Bilanz first reported about the possible takeover.

Mondelez shares rose 4.9% Thursday morning as the rumor spread. But after CNBC shot down the likelihood of a deal between the two snack food goliaths, Mondelez stock pared those gains. MDLZ ended Thursday up 1.88% at $44.71. In early trading today (Friday), shares were off 0.85% at $44.33.

While a Mondelez/Kraft-Heinz deal right now may be off the table, a good case could be made for why the two should unite, or reunite.

Advisors’ Opinion:

Its in fashion to worry about Boeing Co. (BA), but the company isnt that troubled. Boeing beat analysts profit estimate over the summer and the cash-flow picture continued to strengthen.

The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) traded up 2.26% at $184.31. The stock’s 52-week range is $118.25 to $184.80, a new high posted earlier Wednesday. Volume was about 40% below the daily average of around 9.4 million shares. The company had no specific news.

A series of tweetstargeting the high cost of Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE:LMT) F-35 stealth fighter jet apparently resulted in LockMart cutting $600 million off the price of a batch of 90 stealth fighters in January. It may have even had something to do with Boeing (NYSE:BA) offering the Navy a steep price cut on a deal to buy a dozen F/A-18 and EA-18G fighters in March. Now, if Boeing could just be convinced to cut the price on its Air Force One contract by a few hundred million, savings resulting from Trump’s defense-spending tweet storms could soon top $1 billion.

The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close Friday was The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) which traded up 2.21% at $335.37. Top 5 Safest Stocks To Own For 2018: Oshkosh Corporation(OSK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By WWW.THESTREET.COM]

Oshkosh (OSK) was downgraded to neutral from buy at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch. $62 price target. The valuation is less attractive, as the stock is trading at 21x expected 2017 earnings, analysts said.

  • [By Rich Smith]

I first named Oshkosh my top stock pick back in September, when the stock cost $42 and change. Since then, the stock has gone down, and sells for $3 less. So am I supposed to dislike Oshkosh stock now?

No. To the contrary, I like it even more. (About $3 more, in fact).

You see, even in the process of picking Oshkosh back then, I warned investors: "I don’t know whether Oshkosh will be the best-performing stock in the world in the month of September, but I’ve got a strong hunch about the next six months." And that hunch remains — because the facts have not changed.

This past summer, Oshkosh was named the winner of the Pentagon’s contract to build a next-gen "Humvee" — an armored Joint Light Tactical Vehicle that will serve the U.S. military for decades to come. Oshkosh won an initial award to produce 17,000 vehicles for $6.7 billion. Ultimately, though, this is a contract that could swell to $30 billion or more for production, maintenance, and upgrade of approximately 55,000 JLTVs across all military branches.

So why hasn’t Oshkosh stock moved in response to the contract? Mainly because rival bidderLockheed Martin threw a monkey wrench into the contracts process, first protesting the JLTV award to Oshkosh, and then, when that protest was rejected, filing suit in court to try to win the contract away from its rival.

Personally, I think Lockheed Martin will lose that suit as well. After all, Lockheed’s forte is in fighter jets, while Oshkosh is the military’s premier supplier of trucks like JLTV, as well as the Army’s M-ATV vehicle (a small, all-terrain MRAP). Perhaps recognizing this, AM General, the other company that bid against Oshkosh on JLTV and lost, declined to protest the award. Lockheed took the other road, but I expect it will be a dead end for Lockheed as well.

Oshkosh is a manufacturer of specialty vehicles and vehicle bodies and is based in Wisconsin. The company operates under four business segments, namely access equipment, defense, fire and emergency, and commercial.

Hot Heal Care Stocks To Invest In 2018

Many holders of The Trade Desk (TTD) are disappointed by the recent drop after Q3 earnings. The stock sold off on what was a strong earnings report and what was seen as “soft” guidance. This is likely because they didn’t much increase their full-year forecast and Q4 guidance over what they gave during the Q2 report. The market has been pricing in very high growth expectations and as growth slows the price will become more powered by earnings. Since the fall the stock has stabilized and in my opinion remains a very strong buy. The CEO Jeff Green is very much a visionary in the advertising industry, trying to push the boundaries of analytical data-driven advertising. Over the next several years we will continue to see a big push toward programmatic advertising as well as native ads. These changes often happen more abruptly than you would expect, as services like Netflix (NFLX) and Hulu speed up adoption. If you have a good risk tolerance TTD will continue to be volatile but provide exceptional growth with great management. Lets take a peak at the Q3 quarter.

Hepatocellular carcinoma can be managed with local therapy (surgery, embolization, etc.), but at its most advanced stages, the options quickly start to thin out. For a decade, the only option in systemic therapy was Bayer’s (OTCPK:BAYZF) sorafenib. Recently, the effective systemic treatment armamentarium was doubled with the approval of regorafenib for second-line therapy.

We believe that the pharmaceutical sector has received too much negative attention. Despite the risks, a few companies offer good entry opportunities. In our previous article, we recommended Akorn. Today, we have analyzed Teva. We believe that the company is in a position to thrive in the generic market, and that it is priced very attractively. Yet, we don’t like management’s aggressive M&A strategy. We don’t like very aggressive companies since large acquisitions rarely create value for the shareholders. Contributors argue that Teva has overpaid for Actavis (its latest and largest acquisition) by at least $14B. This does not surprise us since most M&A deals are too expensive. Previous corruption issues add further doubts. Unfortunately, there is no amount of profit that can convince us to invest in a company where we do not like the management. We have sold our positions in Bayer (OTCPK:BAYZF) for similar reasons. We like Bayer, but we have sold our shares because of the Bayer-Monsanto (NYSE:MON) acquisition.

Advisors’ Opinion:

Flexing the barbell strategy to balance Safe Havens with more cyclical exposures. In our view, industrials investors should be positioning their portfolio with a barbell strategy, with half of the exposure in Safe Havens like General Electric, Xylem (XYL), Danaher, Honeywell International, Roper Technologies (ROP), and AMETEK (AME), and the other half selectively in the cyclical names that are better positioned today, such as Pentair, HD Supply Holdings (HDS),Actuant (ATU), Atkore International Group (ATKR), Ingersoll-Rand, and Eaton (ETN). We still believe risk-reward is mostly balanced and that the macro will remain choppy into 2017, supporting a positioning in the defensive names. But if investor sentiment improves on not-worse news and earnings results, the more cyclical names could fare better.

recommended stocks to buy: Nustar Energy L.P.(NS)

Advisors’ Opinion:

One technology player that insiders are active in here is Jive Software (NS), which provides a social business software platform to businesses, government agencies, and other enterprises. Insiders are buying this stock into massive weakness, since shares are down sharply by 43% so far in 2014.

Jive Software has a market cap of $446 million and an enterprise value of $365 million. This stock trades at a fair valuation, with a price-to-sales of 2.68 and a price-to-book of 5.67. Its estimated growth rate for this year is 45.5%, and for next year it’s pegged at 30%. This is a cash-rich company, since the total cash position on its balance sheet is $98.18 million and its total debt is $6.60 million.

A director just bought 260,819 shares, or about $1.71 million worth of stock, at $6.53 to $6.60 per share.

From a technical perspective, JIVE is currently trending just above its 50-day moving average and below its 200-day moving average, which is neutral trendwise. This stock recently pulled back off its short-term high of $7.14 a share with heavy downside volume flows. That drop has now pushed the stock to right above its 50-day moving average at $6.10 a share.

If you’re bullish on JIVE, then I would look for long-biased trades as long as this stock is trending above its 50-day at $6.10 a share and then once it breaks out above some key near-term overhead resistance levels at $7.14 a share to its 200-day moving average of $7.43 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 557,678 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then JIVE will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels $8.50 to $9 a share, or even $9.50 to $10 a share.

Top 5 Clean Energy Stocks To Invest In 2018

AMD (NYSE:AMD) does not need a merger or buyout as some have written. Those days are long gone. If it were going to happen, it would have been two years prior when AMD was really feeling the pain and the balance sheet was a wreck. Since then they have drastically reduced debt while expanding product offerings. In this article we are going to cover a brief history, growth prospects, why a buyout will not happen, and how Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) might get in bed with AMD.

History

To look at AMD we have to look to the future. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s AMD was basically a company that specialized in flash memory and had a struggling x86 CPU business. Sure AMD had periods where they were the leader but these were brief due to Intel’s relentless foundry upgrade cycle. AMD could not match Intel from an investment standpoint in the foundries due to cash constraints and product slippage. Nor did Intel’s questionable business practices help but that is for another time. Fast forward to the present. We have an AMD that is emerging from a long healing process and the future outlook is what drives stock prices.

Top 5 Clean Energy Stocks To Invest In 2018: L Brands, Inc.(LB)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jeremy Bowman]

J.C. Penney and Nordstrom should report holiday sales in the coming days, but there’s evidence elsewhere that it was a weak season for bricks-and-mortar retailers. Shares of Victoria’s Secret parentL Brands(NYSE: LB) were down 9% after it said comparable sales fell 1% in December and that it expects fourth-quarter earnings to come in at the low end of its previously stated guidance of $1.85-$2.00.

  • [By Teresa Rivas]

L Brands (LB) ended at the bottom of the S&P 500 on Thursday, after disappointing guidance overshadowed better-than-expected earnings.

L Brands slid $9.19, or 15.8%, to $48.94, its lowest close since 2013. By contrast, the S&P 500 gained 0.99 points, or 0.04%, today to 2363.81.

Oppenheimers Anna Andreeva and Samantha Lanman reiterated an Outperform rating and $75 price target on the stock, but admit that the magnitude of L Brands downward forecast was disappointing, even with weak industry trends signaled by peers like Wal-Mart (WMT), Macys (M), and TJX Cos. (TJX).

While they still are bullish, they admit that the bottom isnt clear:

In the last 5 years, LB’s multiple averaged in high-teens given quality of brands/management, with 13-14x trough not seen since early ’13valuation could still compress assuming guidance isn’t conservative enough. Sticking with Outperform for now, albeit near-term visibility is worsening.

L Brands is down 25% this year.

  • [By Paul Ausick]

L Brands Inc. (NYSE: LB) also dropped about 2.6% on Friday to record a new 52-week low of $56.01. The stock closed at $57.48 on Thursday. Volume was about 33% above the daily average of around 2.5 million shares. Wednesday’s report that ecommerce giant Amazon.com is considering competing with the company’s Victoria’s Secret stores has caused some investors to seek greener pastures.

We believe that two main risks currently exist. First, a few days ago, U.S. Department of Justice filed charges in generic drug price-fixing probe. The U.S. Department of Justice accused two former generic pharmaceutical executives of colluding with other generic manufacturers to fix prices – the first criminal charges stemming from a two-year investigation. Companies in the congressional probe have since publicly disclosed that they have received subpoenas, including Mylan NV (NASDAQ:MYL), Allergan (NYSE:AGN), which later sold its generics business to Teva (NASDAQ:TEVA), Lannett (NYSEMKT:LCI), Impax Laboratories (NASDAQ:IPXL), Endo International (NASDAQ
