Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Own For 2018: AVG Technologies N.V.(AVG)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Igor Novgorodtsev]

InterActiveCorp (IACI) bought Ask.com for $1.85 billion in 2005. The new Perion will be worth only about 40% of that. After the merger, Perion will leapfrog its much larger rivals: Babylon and AVG (AVG). Finally, Perion should be able to increase its operating margins as it can spread its SG&A costs over a much larger base (Conduit EBITDA margin is 32% vs. Perion’s 23%). Perion will keep its senior management team intact: Josef Mandelbaum will remain its CEO and Yacov Kaufman its CFO. Perion has successfully orchestrated a roll-up acquisitions of privately-held Sweetpacks and Smilebox, so I have high confidence that they know how to integrate a new business.

Wednesday was a strong day for the stock market, as the Dow finished up nearly 100 points and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both posted gains as well. Investors remained generally upbeat about the prospects for the U.S. economy in 2017, and a rise in crude oil prices helped lift the energy sector higher during the market session. Yet comments during a press conference from President-elect Donald Trump weighed on the healthcare sector, and some individual stocks took particularly hard hits. Theres an old Chinese curse that translates roughly into may you live in interesting times. Americans today certainly are living in interesting times, but few investors feel cursed. A nearly eight-year-old bull market has sprinted to a series of new highs since the presidential election. Standard & Poors 500-stock index, which closed at 2351 on February 17, has surged 9.9% since the close on November 8, barely wobbling along the way. Thats a good years worth of appreciation in just a bit more than three months.

best stocks to invest in today: SolarWindow Technologies, Inc. (WNDW)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

SolarWindow Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB:WNDW) is another third-party currently engaged in research and development to incorporate one of GLW’s glass products in an innovative manner. WNDW, a leading developer of transparent electricity-generating coatings for glass windows and flexible veneers, announced its plan to develop electricity-generating flexible glass. In particular, WNDW’s scientists and engineers recently applied layers of its liquid coatings onto GLW’s Willow Glass and laminated them under conditions that simulate the high pressure and temperatures of the manufacturing processes used by commercial glass and window producers. The result was a bendable glass “veneer” which generates electricity. WNDW anticipates installing these sheets of electricity-generating glass veneers over existing office tower windows, turning buildings into vertical power generators and helping decrease their carbon footprint. The company also believes that such veneers could be applied to flat and curved surfaces on automobiles, trucks, buses, airplanes, and boats to generate onboard electrical power. WNDW’s veneer products are being developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory in an effort to commercialize WNDW’s products. While we saw no specific timeline for when WNDW would offer its products incorporating Willow Glass, we are once again excited by this innovative use of a GLW product.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jim Robertson]

Yesterday, small cap cannabinoid prodrug pharmaceutical stock Vitality Biopharma, Inc. (OTCQB: VBIO) announcedthe filing of an international patent application that describes compounds discovered to be effective for neural repair treatments. The underlying patent rights were assigned to Vitality Biopharma in March 2016 and are based on work performed by the Myelin Repair Foundation (MRF) -a non-profit disease research organization that was dedicated to developing regenerative therapies for multiple sclerosis.

Investors who were looking to learn a little more about up-and-coming drug development company Vitality Biopharma Inc (OTCMKTS:VBIO) may want to mark December 8th on their calendar…. if they’re going to be in the Los Angeles area that day anyway. The company will be making a presentation that day, at the annual LD Micro Main Event. Interested and approved investors can attend the VBIO presentation by registering beforehand with LD Micro.

Vitality Biopharma has found a way to make cannabinoid-based pharmaceuticals without the usual downside of cannabinoids. Namely, Vitality Biopharma’s version of cannabinoids are non-psychotropic, meaning larger, more effective dosing is possible without the ‘high’. It’s this little detail that takes cannabinoid medicine — already the most compelling frontier in the world of pharma — to the next level. There’s a reason some people think the cannabinoid market could be worth $20 billion by 2020.

The idea was significantly advanced in early November. In eight of the nine states voters were asked about legalization of marijuana (for one reason or another), voters said yes….. four for recreational use, and four for medical use. In eight of those nine states, the measures passed. Marijuana is legal in more than half the United States now, and we’re en route to a decided majority in the foreseeable future.

VBIO didn’t necessarily need a sweeping victory at the ballot box, but each time marijuana wins, it seems to advance the discussion of the power of cannabinoids as medicine.

Investors will be able to learn more about Vitality Biopharma’s work in that arena on Thursday of this week. On that day — 8 AM PST / 11 AM EST — at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. Robert Brooke, CEO of Vitality Biopharma, will be making a presentation as well as meeting with current and prospective investors.

A SeeThruEquity research report posted in August not only has you covered, it underscores all of its hidden bullishness. The report also explains a very impressive target price for Vitality Biopharma shares. Vitality Biopharma, Inc. (OTCBB: VBIO) recent ascent as a strong small cap player in Cannabis pharma, is part of a boom in Cannabis-based pharmaceuticals making announcements about unique and innovative delivery systems being tested for such ailments as Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Crohns disease. But it is important to understand how the industry is evolving in the United States and Canada and what that might mean when realizing valuation and the evolution of government policies which still vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, making access to Cannabis and the pricing model still a big question moving forward.

best stocks to invest in today: Corbus Pharmaceuticals Holdings, Inc.(CRBP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Sean Williams]

This rapid growth in legal pot has create quite the demand for marijuana stocks. The seven largest marijuana stocks by market cap have all put on a show over the past couple of years. Here are those seven “green giants” listed with their market caps as of March 17, 2017, along with their trailing one-year total returns.

    GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH): $3.0 billion, up 64% Canopy Growth Corp. (NASDAQOTH:TWMJF): $904 million, up 259% Aphria (NASDAQOTH:APHQF) $440 million, up 381% Aurora Cannabis (NASDAQOTH:ACBFF): $482 million, up 299% AXIM Biotechnologies (NASDAQOTH:AXIM): $562 million, up 1,720% Corbus Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:CRBP): $450 million, up 431% Medical Marijuana (NASDAQOTH:MJNA): $221 million, up 254%

As you can see, these are some hefty valuations — and some exceptionally strong moves higher on the heels of marijuana’s expansion. With the exception of GW Pharmaceuticals, every one of the largest marijuana stocks has at least tripled in value over the trailing 12 months, with cannabinoid-based drug developer AXIM Biotechnologies skyrocketing more than 1,700%!

In addition, the Colonial Pipeline has reported disruptions that will impact the delivery of product to the southeast. Expect gasoline prices to rise and possibly increased prices on other petroleum products. As a result of the refining disruptions, crude oil producers will likely curb production. If they do not, we will likely see further reductions in the price of crude oil as stores pile up because there is no where for it to go.

As we support the residents of Eastern Texas who are persevering through the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and continued flooding, many are asking what the storm means for that regions most notable products: crude oil and gasoline. The effect on energy commodities does not compare to the devastation to the lives of millions, but oil and gasoline are integral to modern lives. The analysis is best broken into three parts: crude oil production, transportation and storage of oil and gasoline.

After a rally for the ages, the price of oil is back over $50. But the biggest threat to oil might be more production from exploration & production companies drilling in the U.S. shale, say Credit Suisse analyst Mark Lear and team, who cut their ratings on Carrizo Oil & Gas (CRZO), Laredo Petroleum (LPI) and Sanchez Energy (SN). The stock market performed well on Tuesday, responding to steady improvement among many companies as earnings season kicked into high gear. Although political issues are likely to remain in the spotlight for some investors for the foreseeable future, many market participants are looking to economic and business issues in driving their investing decisions. Major market benchmarks finished the day with gains of 0.5% to 1%, but some stocks did much better. Among the best performers on the day were Allegheny Technologies (NYSE:ATI), II-VI (NASDAQ:IIVI), and Beazer Homes (NYSE:BZH). Below, we’ll look more closely at these stocks to tell you why they did so well.

stock market courses: Charter Communications, Inc.(CHTR)

Advisors’ Opinion:

It was just a little more than a year ago when Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) was the largest U.S. pay-TV provider. And it wasn’t even close. But after AT&T (NYSE:T) merged with DirecTV, it took over the top spot. Now, AT&T’s rival telecom company, Verizon (NYSE:VZ), is reportedly considering a megamerger of its own with Charter Communications (NASDAQ:CHTR). The move would put the combined company’s total video subscriber count very close to Comcast’s.

The potential merger points to a big hole in Comcast’s service offerings — its lack of wireless service. If customers can save money by bundling their TV, internet, and wireless bills together with its competitors, Comcast stands to lose customers. But Comcast’s management and investors shouldn’t lose sleep over the possibility that its two biggest competitors offer wireless service.

It has been widely reported that T-Mobile US Inc. (NASDAQ: TMUS) had been in merger talks with Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S), a competitor that is majority owned by Softbank. However, these talks are now on hold as Sprint is negotiating potential deals with two of the largest cable companies in the United States; Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA) and Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR). These cable companies are under pressure having lost subscribers due to services like Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX), which recently blew away its second quarter growth estimates.

As one of the group of companies associated with telecom magnate John Malone — who regularly uses complex, tax-efficient corporate transactions to unlock value for shareholders — Liberty Broadband serves as a holding company that controls a diverse set of media assets. The most important of these is Liberty Broadband’s ownership of 25% of Charter Communications’ (NASDAQ:CHTR) total voting power, which effectively makes Liberty Broadband a tracking stock for Charter Communications shares. As such, Liberty Broadband shares have largely mirrored the impressive rally in Charter Communications stock over the past year. Particularly given Charter’s upcoming launch of its own wireless service network, Soros’ investment in Liberty Broadband remains an interesting option as the cable and telecom industries continue to evolve.

SoftBank also purchased telecom upstart Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S) in 2013. And it is considering deals with other communications giants, including Charter Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) and T-Mobile U.S. Inc. (Nasdaq: TMUS)

Bank stocks performed tremendously well in 2016, but there could still be more upside in the years ahead. If you’re thinking of adding a bank stock or two to your portfolio as we head into 2017, here are three you may want to consider.

Bank stocks had a great 2016

The financial sector was one of 2016’s best performers, up 20% for the year, which was about double the gain of the S&P 500.

XLF data by YCharts

If you take a closer look at the chart, you’ll notice that financial sector underperformed the S&P for most of the year. Most of the gains took place over the last two months — specifically, after the election.

In a nutshell, the market thinks the election of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States, as well as a Republican majority in the House and Senate, could be the magic formula to catapult bank profits higher. Rising interest rates would translate into higher profit margins, deregulation could lower ongoing costs and make it easier for banks to do business, and Trump’s job and wage growth plans could produce more demand for banking services.

stockmarketquotes: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (SSNLF)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

Throughout the past few quarters, WidePoint has seen quiet a few changes from the top. Since last November, the company has had 3 CEOs. Starting mid-2015 and into late 2016, under the leadership of former CEO Steve Komar, investors have been hearing about exciting contracts and partnerships with big names like Samsung (OTC:SSNLF), AT&T (NYSE:T), Kyocera (NYSE:KYO), etc. At the time, the future of WidePoint looked like it was about to turn bright very soon. Even Nokomis, now its biggest institutional shareholder, has bought into the hype and started buying the stock hand over fist. However, unfortunately, that coincided with heavy selling of the stock as a result of it being dropped form the PureFunds ISE Cyber Security ETF (NYSEARCA:HACK).

A long term performance chart shows the performance of mid cap BlackBerry Ltd finally taking off whilethe performance of Samsung Electronics (OTCMKTS: SSNLF) and Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) have beenrising since last year:

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

That’s all, folks: After asking carriers to stop sales amid several reports of replacement Note 7 devices bursting into flames, Samsung (OTC:SSNLF) is now halting production of the phone altogether. That could translate into lost sales of up to 19M devices, or nearly $17B, according to analysts including those at Credit Suisse. The news slammed Samsung’s share price, which closed down 7.5% in South Korea.

  • [By Leo Sun]

By comparison, Sony (NYSE:SNE) was expected to sell about 2.6 million PlayStation VRs, and Samsung (NASDAQOTH:SSNLF) was expected to sell 2.3 million Gear VRs. Even Google’s new Daydream platform was projected to fuel sales of 450,000 compatible handsets. Those numbers clearly indicate that consumer demand for cheaper devices linked to smartphones or gaming consoles could continue outselling higher-end devices tethered to pricier PCs — which would be bad news for Oculus.

Dominion (NYSE: D  ) added its name to the short list of U.S. companies approved to export LNG to non-Free Trade Agreement countries around the world. Its $3.6 billion Cove Point plant in Maryland will flip the facility’s focus on its head from imports from across the globe, to exports to India and Japan.

  • [By Shauna O’Brien]

JP Morgan reported on Friday that it has raised its rating on energy producer Dominion Resources, Inc. (D).

The firm has upgraded D from “Neutal” to “Overweight,” and has given the company a $68 price target. This price target suggests a 12% increase from Thursday’s closing price of $59.78.

Analysts see midstream growth and its MLP formation adding value to existing assets.

Dominion Resources shares were up $1.02, or 1.71%, during pre-market trading Friday. The stock is up 15% YTD.

Do you have an IRA with a major brokerage firm or online company?

If so, you probably own stocks, bonds, ETFs, CDs, or mutual funds in the account.

But perhaps you’re looking for more diversification beyond those traditional investments that your custodian offers.

For example, there’s a massive ranch just north of my house. It boasts thousands of acres of unspoiled nature. And over time, the value of undeveloped parcels there have just gone up and up.

So I’ve seriously considered buying one, but most of my investable assets are inside retirement accounts.

The last thing I want to do is withdraw the money and face taxes or penalties.

Enter self-directed IRAs

I briefly mentioned these in a previous article about regular Individual Retirement Accounts.

Self-directed IRAs have the same contribution limits and tax benefits as traditional or Roth IRAs.

The big difference is that you can own a range of non-traditional investments inside self-directed IRAs, including everything from private companies to tax liens.
