Best Casino Stocks To Watch Right Now

The casino sector offers a lot of color beyond the characters one expects to find as their customers according to the movies. Local nuances in Macau, Las Vegas, online gambling, and new areas lead to industry-wide changes and company-level opportunities for investors.

Recent headlines have focused on headwinds in Macau – with revenue down for its third consecutive year but perhaps bottoming – potential tailwinds in Japan, and the possibility of liberalization of online gambling and sports betting laws in the US. That said, the general performance of the sector’s leading lights has not been great.

SeaWorld Entertainment (SEAS) is probably the most famous example of a company that’s suffered from animal cruelty allegations. Shares of the theme park operator, backed by Blackstone (BX) , have never recovered from the release of the 2013 documentary Blackfish, which argued that orca captivity is inhumane and dangerous to the human trainers of the orcas. SeaWorld announced in March that it would phase out its orca captivity, breeding and live shows. The company’s remaining whales, most of which were born in captivity, will live out their lives at the parks. The news sent SeaWorld shares soaring 9%, but continued attendance drops forced the company to slash its dividend and invest $175 million in new attractions.

The interesting thing about JD stock is that you are not an owner in the JD.com you might think. In Chinese law, it is illegal for foreigners to own stock in companies in certain sectors such as Internet commerce. The way around this is to set up a VIE, or Variable Interest Entity. In this structure, an offshore shell company is set up. There are contracts existing between the two to give the appearance of ownership. The contracts state that the profits from the company registered for operation in China have to be passed on to the holding company. The risks in this come from the lack of real ownership from the shares. in 2011, Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, transferred Alipay to a company owned by Jack Ma without the consent of major shareholders, Yahoo and SoftBank (OTCPK:SFTBY). The conflict was soon resolved but it raised concerns over the VIE structure. Since the incident, it has been claimed that investors put up to a 35% discount on companies with the VIE structure. This discount is excessive as there has been more light shone upon the non transparency of the structure, which has since resulted in no controversies like the one in 2011.

In 2015, Alibaba and Ant invested $680 million in Paytm, India’s mobile payments scheme, giving it a 40 percent share at the time. Last month, they poured another $177 million into it, upping its ownership stake to more than 50 percent. Just last week, Softbank (OTCPK:SFTBY) – Alibaba’s largest shareholder – was reported to be pondering a $1 billion investment in Paytm, which sources say could allow it to hive off its separately branded Paytm eCommerce marketplace. It’s also been suggested that having a Softbank investment that large in Paytm could assuage regulator concerns over China’s possible lock on the Indian market – Paytm currently has 200 million users in India. In December, a company vice president said that Paytm was doing more transactions – 7 million a day – than all of the combined debit and credit transactions in India.

good stocks to own

The dollar index has reached a high of 102 in the last month. This is its highest level in over a decade and is partly due to the prospect of a more hawkish Federal Reserve operating under a Trump Presidency. His plans to reduce taxes and increase public spending could lead to inflation, which may warrant a higher interest rate. In fact, interest rates are forecast to rise to 2.25% in the next three years, which could strengthen the dollar even further.

For companies such as Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) which have major (and rapidly increasing) international exposure, a stronger dollar could mean a squeeze on sales, margins and profitability. While this is a risk for the business over the medium term, I’m still bullish about Starbucks’s prospects. I believe that the scale of its growth opportunity in emerging markets, its resilience in the domestic market, improving customer loyalty and greater use of technology will more than offset negative currency translation moving forward.

ACA Healthy Enrollee Bills Pound Aetna and Kaiser: Mark Farrah

The Treasury bill yield curve says the probability that the U.S. government won’t raise the debt ceiling in time to avert a technical default — a failure to make an interest payment on time — is about 15%.

That’s based on a simple formula that looks at the elevated yields on bills that mature around the time the government is expected to exhaust its borrowing authority in mid-October, compared with the yields on bills due before and after.

For many years, NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) has relied on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM) to manufacture the graphics chips it designs. Today, most of NVIDIA’s Pascal architecture-based graphics processors — from the GeForce GTX 1060, designed for mainstream PC gamers, all the way through its cutting edge Tesla P100 datacenter accelerators — are manufactured by TSMC.

What’s interesting, though, is that the company’s entry-level gaming processor — a chip known as GP107, and sold as the GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti — isn’t built by TSMC. Instead, it’s built by Samsung (NASDAQOTH:SSNLF) on that company’s 14-nanometer LPP technology.

However, whileNVIDIA is sourcing mass-market graphics chips from a rival, it appears that its relationship withTaiwan Semiconductoris deepening rather than degrading. Here are some reasons to think so.

stock dividend: NXP Semiconductors N.V.(NXPI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Sreekanth Anasa]

The acquisition of NXP Semiconductor (NSDQ:NXPI) has opened up multi-billion dollar connected devices market from smartphone to car to home, for Qualcomm. It seems prepared to cater to the massive connected devices market in terms of OS preference with Android and Windows 10 mobile collaborations. Though Amazon and its AWS have different take on cloud and IoT devices with its Greengrass solution which revolves around the cloud and aggregation of sensors.

  • [By Sreekanth Anasa]

EvenCanaccords T. Michael Walkleyis also of a similar view and reiterated a buy rating on QCOM stock recently. Mr.Walkley opines that the litigation against the smartphone chipmaker is motivated by Apple’s(NASDAQ:AAPL) intention to lower its license payments. He has a price target of $76 on QCOM stock and still considers Qualcomm an attractive long-term investment. According to him, the growing royalty fees collection from ChineseOEMs and the impending NXP Semiconductor (NASDAQ: NXPI) acquisition, which is on track as per him, are the long-term growth drivers for QCOM stock.

  • [By Sreekanth Anasa]

Qualcomm may be haunted by its legal woes but there are a lot of positive developments for the chipmaker as well. The demand for Qualcomm’s latest flagship offering Snapdragon 835 is exceeding supply. Though the difference is caused by supply and manufacturing limitations it bodes well for the San Diego chip giant as it suggests healthy demand for its high-end chips amid sluggish smartphone sales worldwide. The company is also expected to win more market share among Chines OEMs in 2H17 particularly withOppo and Vivo.Jun Zhang ofRosenblatt Securities states that “Qualcomms market share in China to grow from 50% in 2016 to 65% in 2017 with share gains in OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi and Meizu, with stable market share in Samsung. We also believe Chinese OEMs will adopt the Snapdragon 835 in late-Q2 or early Q3.” However, analysts are afraid that all these may not offset the losses caused by the legal face-off with Apple. The next major catalyst for QCOM would be the impending acquisition of NXP Semiconductor (NASDAQ:NXPI).Steve Mollenkopf, CEO of Qualcomm, reiterated that the acquisition is on track during the earnings call and spent considerable time discussinglarger growth opportunitiesthat will be unlocked by the conclusion of this acquisition.
