Best Stocks To Buy Right Now

Molson Coors Brewing Co. (NYSE: TAP) was given two positive analyst calls on Tuesday. Oneincludeda new Buy rating with a $130 price target at Goldman Sachs.

Goldman Sachs sees upside after Molson takes full control over the MillerCoors operation. This looks solid because it is calling for some 21% upside, but there was an even more impressive resumption of analyst coverage at another firm.

Merrill Lynch resumed its Molson Coors coverage with a Buy rating and gave ita $140 price objective. Merrill Lynch’s investment rationale said that the company is in a position to drive improved sales growth, expand margins and grow free cash flow.

What Merrill Lynch sees as favorable is of course the pending acquisition of the 58% outstanding stake of the Miller Coors joint venture. Another strength seen is the Miller brands outside of the United States. The firm said:

We are resuming coverage of Molson Coors (TAP) with a Buy rating and $140 price objective. Our price objective applies a 20.9x P/E multiple to our 2017 estimated pro-forma cash earnings per share of $6.68. We expect Miller Coors/Miller international integration to catalyze sales growth and expanded margins & free cash flow.

Best Stocks To Buy Right Now: Abeona Therapeutics Inc.(ABEO)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jim Robertson]

Small and micro cap stocks can obviously be a fickle bunch, but I sure hope all of you participated in Abeona Therapeutics Inc. (ABEO) back when we first put the idea out there in early June. What a tremendous stock this has been for all of us, and it’s not like this happens all of the time.

  • [By Jim Robertson]

On Thursday, our Under the Radar Moversnewsletter suggested shorting small cap rare disease stock Abeona Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ABEO):

Abeona Therapeutics is clearly a timing trade – we think today’s something of a blowoff top, marked by a volume surge and the fact that the stock’s already peeling back from its peak; the profit-takers are already going to work. We saw a similar surge on Tuesday, and though that one didn’t end up kick-starting a pullback, it helped set up today’s reversal bar (by virtue of luring in the last of the would-be buyers). There’s just not a lot of room left for more upside.

Talk about a letdown.

Friday’s monthly jobs report was a big whiff, raising questions about the health of the economy and causing investors to re-think odds of a summer interest rate hike.

The U.S. economy created just 38,000 jobs in May, the government said Friday in its monthly payrolls report, well below expectations for around 160,000 and the lowest figure since September 2010. Perhaps most concerning of all, there were job losses in construction and manufacturing, two sectors that often give strong clues about the overall health of the economy. This drop in construction and manufacturing jobs, combined with the weak overall number and downward revisions to previous jobs reports, raise some questions about what’s actually underlying the economy, and seem to contradict other recent data that pointed to a healthier consumer.

Before Friday, there was a lot of hawkish talk coming out of the Federal Reserve about possible rate hikes. But this jobs report may give the Fed new perspective. Odds of a rate hike fell sharply after the jobs report, to 6% in June, back at levels last seen around a month ago, according to CME futures. Chances of a July rate hike, which had climbed above 60% last week, fell to 37%. There may be a chance to get a read on the Fed’s reaction to this report later today, as Fed Governor Lael Brainard is scheduled to speak this afternoon.

NXP: The Gamble you love to take: Black you win, Red you win in the longer term, Green you get your money back

NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ:NXPI) investors stand a chance to win in all scenarios in the long run

We took a look at NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) back in March. We like the company a lot and we particularly like the fact that it is a key player in the fastest growth sectors of the semiconductor market. When the Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) acquisition for NXP was announced in September at around a 30% premium to the then trading price, it looked like a decent deal for shareholders. The share price, rightly, jumped within a few percentage points of the target $110 price.

With increasing legislation legalizing marijuana both in Canada and the United States, companies involved in the development of cannabis for medical and other purposes are gaining attention.

But weed stocks, as they are often referred to, have been taking a beating lately, with data showing that many of the stock dumps are sales by executives of major cannabis companies. Is this profit taking, or a reaction to AG Jeff Sessions, who has been an outspoken opponent of legalized marijuana, implying that he might consider a rollback to restore marijuana laws under federal jurisdiction? Its anybodys guess. But rather than rush to unload a company before it goes up in smoke (see what I did there) its worth taking a look at additional assets that a cannabis company may hold.

Top 5 Medical Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Spark Therapeutics, Inc.(ONCE)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Chris Lange]

Spark Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: ONCE) saw its shares take a big step back on Monday after the firm reported less than favorable results at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting. Analysts have taken this opportunity to weigh in on the stock:

  • [By Jim Robertson]

On Wednesday, our Elite Opportunity Pronewsletter suggested going long again on small cap gene therapy stock Spark Therapeutics (NASDAQ: ONCE):

Financially, Spark Therapeutics has over $300M in cash on the books and no debt to speak of yet, which equates to a share price of just over four times cash. The Company has generated over $20M in revenue for the trailing twelve months, and although the Company is expected to continue to lose money for the next few years, any strong clinical data that hits the tape could rocket shares of ONCE overnight, just like we’ve seen with so many others over the years.

  • [By Lisa Levin]

Shares of Spark Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ONCE) were down 36 percent to $47.08 on preliminary SPK-8011 trial data.

Athenex Inc (NASDAQ: ATNX) was down, falling around 13 percent to $13.95. Almirall and Athenex reported a strategic partnership to develop and commercialize KX2-391 in the U.S. and Europe.

Top 5 Medical Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Inphi Corporation(IPHI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Lisa Levin]

Technology shares rose by 1.9 percent in the US market on Friday. Top gainers in the sector included Fabrinet (NYSE: FN), and Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI).

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Inphi (IPHI) provides high-speed analog and mixed signal semiconductor solutions for the communications, datacenter and computing markets. This stock closed up 4.7% at $13.25 in Monday’s trading session.

    Monday’s Volume: 838,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 202,080

    Volume % Change: 378%

From a technical perspective, IPHI jumped higher here right above some near-term support at $12.44 with heavy upside volume. This stock has been uptrending strong for the last five months, with shares soaring higher from its low of $8.62 to its intraday high of $13.85. During that uptrend, shares of IPHI have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move briefly pushed shares of IPHI into breakout territory, since the stock flirted with some near-term overhead resistance at $13.50.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in IPHI as long as it’s trending above some near-term support at $12.44 and then once it sustains a move or close above its new 52-week high at $13.85 with volume that hits near or above 202,080 shares. If we get that move soon, then IPHI will set up to enter new 52-week-high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that move are its next major overhead resistance levels at $14.79 to $16.94, or possibly even $18.

stock market performance

In yesterdays analysis, I compared Janet Yellen to an athlete running the high-hurdles at a track meet. Her finish line is a rate hike on December 13.

The hurdles are inflation data, the Trump tax cut, and a government shutdown on December 8. She has to clear all three hurdles to make it to the finish line.

These hurdles are all conveniently time-stamped. The inflation data came out this morning, the tax bill vote is scheduled for Friday, and the government shutdown is scheduled for next Friday, December 8.

As New York Mayor Ed Koch used to ask, “How am I doin’?”

Well, the inflation data this morning was decisively indecisive.

The particular metric in focus was the personal consumption expenditure core deflator on a year-over-year basis released monthly by the Commerce Department with a one-month lag. Call it PCE Core year-over-year for short.

Sounds technical, but it’s important because that’s the number the Fed watches. There are plenty of other inflation readings out there (CPI, PPI, core, non-core, trimmed mean, etc), but PCE Core year-over-year is the one the Fed uses to benchmark their performance in terms of their inflation goal.

Best Low Price Stocks To Invest In 2018

Growth versus value investing is one of the major debates in the investment world.  Growth stocks seem to have outperformed their value counterparts over the past few years. But the winning streak of growth investing took a hit this year with value stocks regaining lost glory.

It is currently speculated that value investing will likely continue its winning run in the upcoming years. Hence, adding potential stocks to one’s portfolio might prove to be an ideal option in the current scenario.

Value vs. Growth Investing: Long-Drawn Debate

Value investors seek to invest in stocks that are believed to be trading at a discounted value. Investors look for favorable value ratios including low price-to-earnings (P/E) and price-to-book value (P/B) ratios to identify potential value stocks. While a significant number of these stocks are also expected to come with solid dividend payments, these stocks are also expected to moderate growth prospects.

Tuesday was another down day for the Dow Jones Industrials, which fell more than 100 points to drop further below the 20,000 level. But broader market measures were mixed, and the Nasdaq Composite even managed to gain ground. Some stocks had bad news that sent them lower today, and among the worst performers were Seadrill (NYSE:SDRL), Roadrunner Transportation Systems (NYSE:RRTS), and Tempur Sealy International (NYSE:TPX). Below, we’ll look more closely at these stocks to tell you why they did so poorly.

Top 10 Undervalued Stocks For 2018

The Economist has a nice piece which highlights the fundamental conflict at the heart of Bitcoin. Miners want the price of bitcoin to keep on rising, because this gives them an incentive to keep mining despite the ever-rising energy cost of doing so. Users, however, want liquidity. They want transactions settled quickly and efficiently, at low cost.

Why is this a conflict, you ask? Simple. It is in the miners’ interests to restrict liquidity in the system, because doing so raises their returns. Liquidity is undervalued in the Bitcoin system – hence the hard cap on issuance and designed-in capacity limitations. So there is a clear incentive to hoard. Keeping bitcoins out of circulation pushes up the price at the expense of liquidity, which pleases the miners at the expense of the users.

Top 10 Undervalued Stocks For 2018: Pinnacle Entertainment Inc.(PNK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Pinnacle Entertainment (PNK) has gained 56% this year; Las Vegas Sands (LVS) has climbed 38%. And Deutsche Bank has nice things to say about both today.

    Bloomberg

First Pinnacle. Deutsche Bank’s Carlo Santarelli ponders the stock’s big move and comes away still seeing value in its shares. He writes:

When we upgraded PNK in April, our thesis centered on the FCF strength of the combined entities [Pinnacle completed its acquisition of Ameristar Casinos on Aug. 14], a handful of favorable catalysts, easing regional gaming comps, & an inexpensive relative valuation. Given the shares’ sizeable move since then, we believe it is worth revisiting the investment case. Post the announcement of several asset sales and the closing of the transaction, we are adjusting our estimates, raising our PT to $30 from $24, and maintaining our bullish view at current levels given what we still believe to be an attractive free cash flow valuation, meaningful potential synergy realization beyond the $40 mm of announced benefits, and a free option on a lagging regional recovery.

Santarelli also revisited Las Vegas Sands and there too, he likes what he sees. He writes:

With…LVS at [a share price level] that have been challenging to break from over the last year plus, we believe this time is different and hence we see continued upward momentum…In the case of LVS, we see; 1) meaningful mass market strength continuing through year end, setting the stage for upward company and market estimate revisions for 2014, 2) continued cash flow appreciation and capital returns serving as downside protection and positive catalysts, and 3) continued shared gains, largely driven by table optimization and mass market strength, driving both estimates and sentiment.

He also likes Wynn Resorts (WYNN), despite its 34% gain.Santarelli writes:

As for WYNN, we believe near-term estimates continue to take a back seat to capital return

Some analysts urged investors to keep the faith in the stock.Barclay’s JeffreyBernsteinreiterated an Overweight rating and $47 price target on thestock:

We believe TXRH fundamentals remain best-in-class. That said, the near-term focus remains on directional comps. And not unlike the broader industry, TXRH comps eased significantly to close 2016. Such led to disappointing 4Q16 results from top to bottom. Importantly, while the brand ‘is not immune’ to industry comp headwinds, the relative outperformance to the category was maintained. Looking to 2017, key guidance metrics were reiterated. While questions remain on whether the recent easing of industry comps will persist, we remain comforted by TXRH’s relative outperformance and easing comps as we move through 2017.

Maxim’s Stephen Andersonreiterated a Buy rating, although he took his price target down $4, to $52:

In our view, TXRH is not immune to the broader slowdown in Casual Dining, but we believe the company will emerge stronger than peers in the next few quarters.TXRHs disappointing 4Q16 comp of +1.3% (blended) was pulled down by a rare negative comp month in December (-2.1%), marking the first time this occurred in almost four years.
